Christmas is over and the New Year is coming.

Finally, I got Sarah out of the house so I could blog. I told her she needed to get a jump start on her new year's resolutions and get back on her bike. It was a beautiful day on Lookout Mountain so she easily conceded that she needed a bike ride. She even was going to attack Tutwiler gap even though she is so out of shape. I am sure she will come back in here all huffing and puffing. She has to hurry as she has guests checking in this afternoon. They are all here to celebrate the New Year coming soon. Wildflower Cafe, Mentone Springs Hotel and Windwood Farms are going to have wonderful dinners and dancing to offer everyone. Hope we can bring in a good 2009 at Mountain Laurel Inn B&B. The only thing I hate are all of the fireworks and the noisemakers that people enjoy using during their celebration. I like it when Mentone is just peaceful and quiet.
Better go before Sarah gets back from her bike ride. Hopefully, she will set up her Wii this afternoon so I can go bowling! Cheers!

Wonderful Gifts are everywhere!

Sarah has been busy as a little elf getting many gifts together this week. Hopefully, some of those gifts under the tree are for me. :) She has wonderful Coon's homemade toffee for several friends. It smells great but I know not to indulge in such great chocolate. She does sneak a few nibbles in for herself-better watch it girl. She's been baking her Grandmother's cookies today that she is going to give with the Mountain Laurel Inn and Mentone Memories Cookbook to some folks in Atlanta. They smell great too. Her former Golden, Baxter, has some great dog biscuit recipes in the cookbook that I wish she would fix for me. They are so Yummy and I need sustenance too! I hear I am going to meet Muddy from Boston at Christmas so I need to get a bath and spruce up some in the next couple of days. Maybe I need to lay off the eating for a few days so he is impressed at how beautiful and sleek I am. Sarah and I have not been walking like we need to but we have been in mist and fog for a week.

Sarah has also been running to the post office everyday to send off gift certificates for stays at Mountain Laurel Inn. I hear that some of my favorite people are returning to the B&B soon. Oh boy-my favorite. I always love greeting people at the door even in the heavy fog. We didn't get snow the other day but we think it will be a winter of several snowfalls. The woolly worms were solid black this year so that means a long winter. I am so glad that Sarah returned from her trip to New York as I hear that the weather is going to be bad this weekend.

We are headed to Atlanta soon to celebrate her nephew's 18th birthday-oh my, he's a man. I love visiting Atlanta even though I sleep in the bathroom as I get to see and to be loved on by all my relatives. I will get some pics to post later. We usually get some good walks in while in Atlanta too. And of course, I sneak out during the Christmas party so everyone can experience my charismatic personality. By the way, I saw Sarah wrapping some Marshmallow shooters that look like they will be loads of fun. Can't wait to get to Susu's house.

Sarah did hear from Athens, GA this week. Unfortunately, she found out that we lost Honey, a wonderful yellow lab in Athens. We are sad but Baxter and Honey are having a grand time in doggie heaven.

Hope everyone is enjoying their preparations for the holidays. Enjoy the season.

Another Snow Day Please

Will we wake up to snow again? The wind is howling and the temperature is dropping--I can only hope for another snow day! Please, please no ice--only snow. It is a wonderful sound outside today with the river so full that DeSoto Falls sounds like a train rushing by. This is the perfect time to come see all the waterfalls in DeKalb County as they are all overflowing with water. Maybe Sarah and I can walk down to DeSoto Falls and get some pics tomorrow. Or maybe, I'll be building a snow bunny for me to enjoy:) Oh I can hardly wait to go to sleep so I can wake up to a winter wonderland!!

Let it Snow!

Mentone, Alabama received it's first snowfall today. Oh boy-my favorite! The mountain was beautiful with the snow coming down all day. Reports say we received 3 inches of snow. I just love going out and playing in it. Sarah even took some pics of me and the snow. See more of my pics on myspace. She even got some pics of the Christmas tree we put up this weekend. I worked hard getting all of those ornaments on the tree. Sarah bought a frazier fir because we love the smell of Christmas trees. Hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving. May the Christmas season come with great expectation of special moments on the mountain.
