Flat Stanley arrives in Mentone, Alabama after a long trip from Essex, Massachussets

Flat Stanley arrived in Mentone this week and Lickety-Split is letting him use her blog to write letters to Nora in Essex. Flat Stanley will have adventures in Mentone and the surrounding area for the next month, so please stay tuned.

Dear Nora,
I have arrived in Mentone, Alabama to visit Sarah and Lickety-Split. Sarah picked me up at the post office in town. Did you know that Mentone is a town of less than 500 people and now I am one of them. I have posted pictures of the Mentone post office and Sarah says this is the place in town to see all of your neighbors when you pick up your mail. That was a long trip from Essex to Mentone. In fact, it was 1121 miles that would take you 18 hours and 48 minutes to drive. Oh I am so glad I came by way of the United Postal Service or I may have never made it. I was a little cramped when I arrived from being in that mailing tube but Sarah let me spend the afternoon in the hammock at her bed and breakfast. I also got to play with Lickety-Split and to smell the flowers. Mentone and Lookout Mountain are seeing Spring arrive with flowers blooming like daffodils and trees budding like the Red Buds. It was 64 degrees today but it will be colder tonight as it drops into the high 30's. Mentone is cold still because it is on top of the mountain at an elevation of almost 2000 feet. I will post pictures from my day. I now know why you wanted to come visit Sarah too. She promises me she will take me bike riding soon but we did go to Spin class this afternoon. It was fun at first but I got all sweaty after riding that bike so fast and going nowhere! Hope you enjoy my pics!
Having fun in Alabama!
Your friend, Flat Stanley
