Saturday brings several fun activities to enjoy while in Mentone and on Lookout Mountain. The mountain still looks beautiful so driving the Lookout Mountain Parkway is a great way to start the day. Here are some special activities for November 20th.

Winter Fairy Houses & Hobbit Hike Pausing in the woods or along the river to create a small structure for the good folk gives children the opportunity to bond with nature on a very personal level. She’ll also lead a short “hobbity” hike through an enchanted forest to identify places where fairies might live or play. Rock Climbing / Rappelling Adventure Combo Nestled in the NE corner of Alabama are some of the best and unique sandstone cliffs in the country. Come experience first-hand what rock climbing and rappelling is all about with guides who are fun, safe and energetic. This trip includes all the gear plus basic instruction. No prior climbing experience is needed. $54 per person 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Call True Adventure Sports at 256-997-9577

International TELLABRATION! Storytelling in the Canyon The International Tellebration is a worldwide event devoted to storytelling. This grass-roots movement is endorsed by the National Storytelling Network. Join Renee Morrison and other Alabama storytellers for this fun event which includes an open stage for youth and novice tellers! Blow Your Own Ornament at Orbix Hot Glass Gallery. This had become very popular here at Orbix Hot Glass. Come design and blow your own ornament with the help of one of our glass artists. No reservations are needed, it is on a first come, first serve basis. For this we welcome people of all ages (at least 5 years old). 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Cost is $35 per ornament blown 256-523-3188


Night Sky Swing This is an adventure of a lifetime. Enjoy the thrill of the swing. Pre-registration required at True Adventure Sports by 6 pm the day before the adventure. Meet at True Adventure Sports $45 per person. 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. 256-997-9577
